Tony's is proud to present our 3rd SFYSC Sing-Off. Beginning in January of 2012, every singing participant will have the opportunity to enter our vocal competition. Here's how it works:
- On January 12th, February 2nd, March 1st, and April 5th, two finalists and an alternate will be determined by a combination of audience response and independent judges' ratings.
- On Thursday, May 3rd, we will hold the "sing-off" at which time each finalist will sing two numbers, with the winner being announced at the end of the evening.
As you can see, it's to your advantage to have as many friends, relatives and fans as possible at your performance. Our judges will be professional singer/performers. Each participant will be scored on:
A. Voice Quality - tone, pitch, stylistically right for the song
B. Performance Level - audience rapport, enthusiasm, fun to watch, comfortable on stage
C. Song Knowledge - correct lyrics, secure entrances, musically correct
D. It Factor - Wow! I don't know what it is about him/her, but I love him/her!
E. Audience Response - applause level and length
The scores will be tallied and judges' totals combined to determine the finalists and the winner.
The winner will be featured in his or her own 45 minute show at SING FOR YOUR SUPPERCLUB on Thursday, June 7th, backed by the Tony Starlight All Star Horns, and receive pre-show coaching with band leader, Bo Ayars.
New songs are added throughout the competition, so keep checking the website.
Please note: You do not have to enter the contest to sing at any of the Sing for Your Supperclub events! Just come on in and have fun!!
"Sing Off" Rules & Regulations
» Contest is not open to performers who have headlined at Tony Starlight's in the past. There is a limit of 4 past finalists, so the field remains open to new participants.
» You must sing a septet chart from the list. No special accommodations will be made for keys, etc.
» You can be disqualified from the competition by Tony or Bo for any reason they see fit.
» Be sure you can attend in May and June before entering. We will select an alternate each month who will sing if there is an emergency and someone cannot make the finals. Example: If the March semi-finalist cannot make it, the March alternate will be asked.
» Two Semi-Finalists and an alternate will be chosen each month, January through April. At the May 3rd "Sing for Your Supperclub", the 8 semi-finalists will sing two songs each, and the winner will be announced.
» We will not allow the same song to be sung by multiple competitors during the finals stages, but the same song can be sung during qualifying rounds.
» You must sing a different song in each round of the competition.
» There will be a random drawing among the semi-finalists to determine who has first song choice. |
