Tony Starlight at The Big Float
The Big Float is the annual Willamette River fundraising event, benefiting the Human Access Project. It’s a celebration of our river – including the recreation it offers as well as the restoration it has undergone in recent years. The idea is to enjoy the river and also inspire positive aspirations for the river’s healthy development (beaches and access), protection and improvement.
Tony is performing from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.
More about The Big Float:
To get to this year’s Big Float, Go By Transit! TriMet can get you right by the waterfront and yes, you can bring your water wings on board. To plan your trip to Waterfront Park, visit trimet.org to use their Trip Planner.
We launch from “Poet’s Beach” (west bank under Marquam Bridge) and take out at the Tom McCall Bowl – on the west bank of the river just south of the Hawthorne Bridge. That’s where we’ll gather after the float for Portland’s summer beach party – including a music barge and live bands. Revelers can recline in their watercraft on the river – or frolic on the beach or grassy bowl.
The Big Float is open to all ages. All floaters must wear a life jacket. It’s a safe voyage, not a race. Join the flotilla and attend the grandest pool party Portland has ever seen! A fundraiser for the Human Access Project.
